GROweLUTION

The Solution sustainability. (re)cycle. (r)evolution. unique unit.

Environmental pollution caused by petroleum-based synthetics is a man-made problem of our time. It depends on us whether to return most back to earth instead of further polluting and exploiting it.

Designer Etien-Marie Hofbauer‘s work GROweLUTION considers diversity and community as a holistic concept, as a unit for driving that change to sustainability.

Inspired by the Italian culture and its own cultural heritage, an intercultural design was created with the aim of rationalising or reducing plastics such as ski clothing and the automotive sector.

Her concept consists of the following sustainability- components:

Fiore d‘alpino – a material designed according to the lasagna principle made of: cupped paper, flower petals, biodiversity seeds, crocheted paper yarn and organic wool. The structure of the spacer material means that it is not necessary to glue the different surfaces together, because the construction of the material means that mesh heads serve as a flexible binding element. Each layer of material represents luxurious value and can be separated type by type for upcycling and recycling.

The ski outfit Eve & Elle made of Fiore d‘alpino material provides warmth, protection from cold and wet. Conceived according to the Cradle to Cradle design principle the outfit is able to enter the biological metabolism at the end of its life cycle and thus benefits the environment.

Regarding the automotive interior design the material designed by Etien- Marie Hofbauer is used as sustainable seat cover „Fiore d’alpino uno“.
