The obvious problem of environmental pollution by the textile and clothing industry shows the urgent need to develop new sustainable design strategies and to optimize and apply the already existing ones.

Sustainability in form of waste prevention starts with first design conceptions and refering to the complete product life-cycle.

The bachelor thesis of Etien-Marie Hofbauer focuses on the conception and application of a new interdisciplinary design strategy based on both already existing principles of sustainability „Zero Waste“ and „Cradle to Cradle“ in combination with the aspect of veganism by using Pinatex as an environmental friendly leather alternative.

The result is an accessoires´ collection with the specification „bag“ by which the previously developed design strategy has been implemented.
